This will be accomplished by holding town hall meetings, via social media and word of mouth in the community.

Arjenae Jones - Candidate, Greenville City Council District 1

    Arjenae Jones

    Your current job and title:

Universal Healthcare of Greenville Director of Life Enhancement

    Your highest level of education:

Bachelor’s Degree from East Carolina University

If you're elected or re-elected, what will be your top priority? Why?

My top priority is Economic Development. It’s extremely important that we attract companies that can bring jobs for people to make livable wages. This could help address some of the homelessness and food insecurities. It’s equally as important for entrepreneurship, as this allows small business to start and hire people in our communities. We need to cut out some of the red tape that would hinder our city from growing in this area.

If you're elected or re-elected, how will you involve your constituents in the process of making decisions?

I plan to involve my constituents by hosting community meetings to allow them to give their thoughts on ways the city can better support them. I also plan to put out a newsletter to share some of the critical things being addressed on the council as well as to keep constituents informed of different community events. I also plan to attend various community events to meet and interact with those I will be serving.

Why should voters choose you for the position you're running for?

Voters should choose me because I am a strong voice who is willing to speak up for their issues. I am passionate about assisting others with finding their voice and I want to assist them with navigating through what can be a cumbersome process at times.

Which three things about you do you most want voters to know?

Three things that voters should know about me is that I am a caring and compassionate person, I love motivating and uplifting others and I love to work collectively to find solutions.

Is there anything else about you that you wish to tell voters?

I believe in democracy and the people having a choice.

In all, there are six members of the City Council, and the mayor, and they are elected to two-year terms. Voters will select the mayor, a candidate in their geographic district, and the council member-at-large, who must represent the entire city.
